2009 
        ghNOG-2 Workshop Postponed

The Executive Committee (Excom) of the Ghana Network Operators Group (ghNOG) and ISOC Ghana have announced the second  ghNOG workshop which was to take place from 4 -8 January 2010 at the Ghana Telecom   University College (GTUC) at Tesano, Accra has been postponed to March 2010. This was due to circumstances beyond their control. The new dates will be announced shortly. The ghNOG Excom and ISOC Ghana will continue to accept applications from all qualified network operators from academia, industry, government and not-for-profit organizations for the workshop until mid-February 2010.          2009 Annual Nii Quaynor Lecture on Internet Governance held at GTUC

In honour of Prof. Nii Quaynor winning the prestigious Jon Postel Award ( the best Internet engineer globally for his contribution of development of Internet in Africa) in 2007, the Internet Society Ghana Chapter instituted an annual lecture series in his honour to focus on key ICT and Internet Governance issues.

This year, the lecture took place at the Ghana Telecom Univeristy College (GTUC) on Friday, 13 November. The lecture was presented on behalf of Prof. Nii Quaynor by Mr. Daniel Ashitey, CEO of Danash Engineering, nn ICT company

This year Nii Quaynor looked at the Global and African Internet Institutions, new landmarks and its significance to policy development in Ghana.

The lecture was Chaired by Dr. Osei Darkwa, President of GTUC.

Sir
Tim Benners-Lee, the British engineer, computer scientist and MIT professor credited with inventing the World Wide Web, would be arriving in Ghana this weekend as part of a four-nation African tour. Notwithstanding the little time available to him in the country, the renowned Professor has gratefully accepted to engage the Ghana Internet community at 2.00 pm on Monday 21st September 2009 at the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, near the State House.

Sir Tim Bernes-Lee's meeting with the Internet Community in Ghana is coordinated by the Ministry of Communication. Amongst the organization invited to meet Sir Berners-Lee is the Internet Society Ghana Chapter, the Ghana Network Operators Group, the Ghana Internet Service Providers Associaation (GISPA), GASSCOM and Ghana Network Information Center (ghNIC). The Internet Society Ghana Chapter invites all its members and interested person to be present at the meeting.
